Brookie Crawford, APIO Risk Communications Manager Brookie Crawford is the risk communications manager for the Virginia Department of Health. She has more than 25 years of communications experience including handling crisis communications for more than 20 federally declared disasters. Starting at VDH during the COVID-19 pandemic five years ago, she is no stranger to crisis communications. Previously, she spent 17 years at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. She is a part of the NPHIC Cohort for Hurricane Communication Support Project and is partnering with the Region 3 Public Health Preparedness and Response Center Steering Committee to pilot a practical playbook for addressing health rumors.In addition to NAGC, she is on the board of the National Public Health Information Coalition and the Virginia Executive Institute Alumni Association. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America. She has a Bachelor of Science in mass communications and psychology from James Madison University and resides in Richmond, VA. |
