NAGC promotes excellence in government communications through the professional development opportunities it offers its members. By working together to share news, information, ideas, strategies, and tactics, we will continue to grow this important field and deliver unprecedented value to the American public.
The NAGC Communications School
Each year, communicators from around the country gather for this three-day event featuring pre-conference workshops, morning and noon-time plenary sessions, hourly break-out sessions, and our annual Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards ceremony. In the evenings, we get to know one another as we take in the sights and sounds of our host city.
Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)
If you’ve wanted to earn your APR credentials but you aren’t a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), NAGC has the perfect opportunity for you. Our partnership with PRSA opens the door to this internationally recognized mark of excellence in the public relations field. We also offer partial reimbursement of associated fees to 10 members per year who successfully complete the application.
Through a partnership with the American Public University System, members of NAGC receive a 5% tuition reduction and a Book Grant for e-books to students earning undergraduate academic credits. We are also in the process of establishing an 8-week certificate in government communications program with the university system’s Center for Applied Learning.
Leadership and volunteer opportunities
NAGC offers dozens of ways for you to build your resume, learn new skills, and work one-on-one with seasoned government communications professionals. Run for a position on our Board of Directors, serve as a Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards judge, join a committee, or take on a quick task or short-term project. Let us know how you’d like to get involved by sending us a quick communique from our Members Area.
